Hello? lo lo lo lo lo Anybody there? er er er er er? I didn't think so!

Wow!!! It's been over 3 years since I posted anything here! My life has been so busy! That last post was a week or 2 before I started going back to school fulltime and that became all consuming in my life for the next 2 years!
I went to cosmetology school at a local college for a year...where I graduated suma cum laude I might add! I know, it's just hair right? Ummm not so much! You would be amazed at all the things that someone learns in cosmetology school. Let me just tell you that all the nail disorders people can possibly have would make your head spin!! Anyway, while I was in cosmetology school we went over skincare and I fell in love!!! So, what did I do?? I enrolled to go back to school for esthetics! I started about 2 weeks after I graduated from cosmetology and went for another 9 months part time and I worked part time in a salon! And I graduated again...suma cum laude! toot toot!! lol Then about 2 weeks later our world came crashing down around us.
But let me go back to before I started school so you can get the full picture here. My husband and I were blissfully going about life, me as a stay-at-home mom and he worked fulltime in the dental ceramics field.....fancy talk for he made crowns and bridges in a dental lab! We were doing alright, not rolling in the dough by any means, but we made it....sometimes by the skin of our teeth! We have 5 kids and our youngest kids were 4 and 2 years old at this time. So, 2 kids at home with me all day. Well, I got this idea that I should start looking into going to school, really just to see what it would take to go. I mean I've always wanted to do hair, since I can remember, and what would it hurt to just go get info for future reference right??? So, off I went to the local college that is about 45 minutes from my house and went in to talk with one of the couselors. Then wham bam, I was enrolled in college. Afterwards I thought...Wait, what just happened here??? We didn't qualify for a childcare grant, so I went home and cried. Mostly I cried because the thought of even putting my kids in daycare broke my heart. I had stayed home with all my other kids and felt like I would somehow be letting these 2 down by leaving them and I didn't know how we were going to afford daycare. I talked with my mother-in-law about my dilemma and she and my father-in-law decided they would keep the kids so I could go to school. Fast forward to May 2010. I graduated from esthetics and started working fulltime.
My husband told me a few days after graduation that he had been having trouble sleeping because he couldn't breathe when he was laying down. It progressively got worse and he was sleeping less than 30 minutes a night because he couldn't breathe and he got to the point that he started sleeping in a recliner because he said he felt like he had an elephant sitting on his chest. This went on for about 2 weeks until one day while he was at work he started having chest pains. He called me and told me how he was feeling and I told him he had to go to the ER. He agreed but said he was going to finish his day at work. I met him at the ER that evening and they took him straight back and did an EKG and immediately moved him to the cardiac unit of the ER. They hooked monitors to him and we could watch his heartbeat.....which was super sporadic. He got admitted into the hospital that night and a couple of days later they did a heart cath on him to see if he had a blockage and how his heart was functioning. He had no blockages but his left ventricle was so enlarged that it was barely pumping blood to his body! A normal heart pumps 50-70% of the blood out of it with each contraction. His was pumping out only 15%. The doctor said 10% can't sustain life! I nearly died right there!! He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.....at 37 years old!
A million things ran through my mind. I have 5 kids how can I do this alone?! I've only been working for 2 weeks fulltime and don't have much of a clientele! I don't want to be without my husband who I love more than words can express! My kids need their daddy! I don't want to be alone!
The doctor put him on a ton of medications and he stayed in the hospital for a total of 8 days. They wouldn't release him until he was approved for a lifevest....which was a portable defibrillator that he wore like a vest under his clothes 24/7 that monitored his heart and if at anytime his heart stopped it would automatically shock it! He wore that thing for 3 months and if his heart got a wonky rhythm it would sound an alarm then tell all bystanders to move away so it could shock him. It had a bypass button and he would bypass it but let me tell you the first time that alarm went off was around midnight one night not long after he got out of the hospital and it scared me so bad that I cried and shook for hours and couldn't sleep the rest of the night! I finally had to go to the doctor myself because I was so paranoid and needed something to help me stay calm and something to help me sleep.
He continued with doctors appointments and his heart function improved each time! Although he was ordered to not work....EVER again! He applied for and was declared medically disabled and has been a stay at home dad ever since!
I worked in the salon until this past summer and we decided it would be best if I opened my own little salon at my house. So we got to work and I have the cutest little salon right on my front porch!! It's actually a little room at the end of the front porch. It's called Chop Shop and I've been open since mid July! I love working from my house but most of all I love all the time I get to spend with my husband! I can come in the house between clients and spend time with him! I don't know that I would have appreciated that time as much if we hadn't gone through all we did last year! I'm so grateful I went to school on a whim.....I don't know how much of that was my own idea considering what happened. I'm sure I was being led to do what was best for my family because if I hadn't been working we wouldn't have been able to make it!
If you made it all the way through....wow you are a trooper!! Oh one more thing....I got rid of all my stamps! :::shocking::: I just didn't have time for it anymore with school and everything else. BUT, now that I'm working from home I have more time to craft so I thought that I could transition to more craft related posting. I'm sure at some point I will get back into stamping just not right now. I hope y'all enjoy the things I post.

My Inspiration Challenge Card

Ok, so only one person took me up on the inspiration challenge! LOL You can check out Shelley's card here!! It is gorgeous! Only one person participated, but I'm not going to give up that easily! I have a new inspiration challenge I will post later. I started thinking that maybe it isn't a good idea to post it on a weekend, so, maybe I'll post it early Thursday morning. If that doesn't work, then maybe I'll post it on Mondays and see how that goes! LOL Anyway, here is the card I made for the challenge. If you notice, I used a piece of cardstock rickrack on this card!

New Video Tutorial

I posted a new video tutorial over at the hen house! BTW, how do you spell rick rack, ric rak? I spelled it ric rak and I hope that isn't wrong! Have you noticed how popular ric rak is? Stamps, stickers, actual ric rak??? Well, I've seen a new thing that people are doing! They are using the brand new scallop punch from the brand new Stampin' Up! Fall/Winter Idea Book and Catalog to make cardstock ric rak! Guess what??? I don't own that punch, so I pulled out my trusty corner rounder to see if I could get the same results! It was sooooo easy! So head on over to the henhouse and see how easy it is! And watch tomorrow for me to post a card using a piece of cardstock ric rak! Ooooo, I wonder if the slit punch would work too? I may have to conduct another experiment!

Oh, and one more thing.......no one has taken my challenge yet! I was going to have a FABULOUS prize, but no one loves me enough to even give me the time of day! Well, I guess I'll just have to keep it for myself! LOL

Inspiration Challenge/Contest!!!

I've decided to start a weekly challenge to help you and ME start looking at everything in a new way! There are so many things out there..i.e. ads, logos, packaging.....that have great color combinations or patterns that can be translated into Stampin' Up! colors or images! You can use colors or patterns or whatever it is that catches your fancy about the picture! To kick it off, I decided to go with a photo from Pottery Barn Kids! I love this room and the great colors.

It is going to be a monthly challenge and there is a sketch, color combo, and technique to try out! This month JanTink is the guest challenger! It's been a loooonnnnnngggg time since I've posted anything! Our summer has been super busy! At the beginning of June, my 2 girls and I went to Girl's Camp for our church for 4 days. We had a ton of fun and got very little sleep!! The 3rd week of June, we had a family reunion that lasted a week! It was so fun to get to see all my brothers and sisters.......there are 9 of us! 3 live in the town we grew up in, I live about 45 minutes away, then I have a brother that lives in St. George, Utah, one in Panaca, Nevada, one in Chattanooga, Tennessee, then I have a sister in Burley, Idaho, and another sister in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The airlines made a lot of money off this reunion!! Plus, ALL of my nieces and nephews, some of my aunts and uncles, and some cousins were there too. We had about 60 people in my mom and dad's house at any given moment! It was chaotic but fun! The whole reunion was a complete surprise to my parents. We decided we would celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary too while we were all together. We had a special presentation on the last night and we talked about our memories growing up. We also had all of the old 8mm film put onto DVD, then I made a DVD with family photos and put in clips of the 8mm. It made everyone cry!! There was film of my mom and dad with my oldest brother, who is now 48 years old! It was so fun to see it all!! I'm attaching a couple of pictures of us. (as I was going thru the photos, I got a little teary eyed!) This first one is the Friday night presentation. This is just a small portion of us! There are more on the other side of the camera and off to the right and left!!Here is a picture from the opposite corner. That is my wonderful husband in the cowboy hat....he's crying and if he knew I put this up he'd probably make me cry!! LOLThis is a picture of the food for that Friday night. My brother-in-law is a chef and caters, so he set up this AWESOME table!!! I made the cake! It was my first attempt at making a tiered cake! It turned out ok. On the top layer there is an oval with a 50 in it.This next photo is one of the family pictures we took. It was funny when the photographer got there he said.....ok, y'all get into family groups first, then we'll go from there.....we looked at him with a puzzled look.....and he said, well you aren't all brothers and sisters are you??? We all busted out laughing and said uhhhhh yeah we are! I'm the one on your left on my knees. I'm the only one that didn't get the memo about wearing a POLO style shirt! DUH! At least I knew to wear white! This photo wasn't taken by the photographer. My brother-in-law took this one while the photographer was taking his. These photos were taken at Sam Houston State Park in Moss Bluff, Louisiana which is about 3 miles from my parents' home and where we all grew up!
This last photo was my idea. We wanted something casual with just the kids in it. It is my absolute favorite!!!! I love it! I just realized I put my glasses back on in this one!

One last thing, my oldest brother.......he's the bald one......ok, there are a couple that are bald looking! LOL He's the bald one on the right. Well, he has led a pretty rough life and has made some less than good choices in his life. He started smoking at age 12 and got into alcohol and drugs as a teenager. He is no longer a member of our church because of some of the choices he has made. Well, while we were together, he realized that family is so important and that he wants to be able to spend eternity with all of us! He quit smoking on the Sunday after the reunion was over and has been going to church! We are so amazed because we never thought we would see this day! He asked my dad to please not die anytime soon so that dad could re-baptize him!!! I just want to say that I'm so thankful for the atonement of Jesus Christ that makes this possible! I'm not one to be "preachy" and I hope this doesn't turn some of you off, but I'm so happy that I can't not say something. I don't EVER and I do mean E-V-E-R get up in church to bear my testimony because.........well just because I don't. I don't like to be up in front of everyone showing my emotions. Anyway, I did this past fast Sunday at church because I thought I would be the most ungrateful person if I didn't share this with my ward! So many people came up afterwards and told me how heartfelt it was and how touched they were by it! I didn't do it because I wanted people to say something to me......if fact I was kinda hoping they would forget it! LOL If you have someone in your life in a similar situation, never give up on them!! You never know if and when they might turn their life around and come back into the fold!

I needed a card for a birthday party for a 2 year old. I decided I would use Pun Fun because I love the cute little images in it! I had planned to just make a simple card, but I kept adding little details and about 2 hours later, I finally finished it!! One of the details I added was to put little white dots on the mats. I got this idea from Faith AKA Markie's Mom on SCS. Here is a link to her blog. She must have the patience of Job to put that many dots on her cards! This is the first and last time I add dots!! It was too time consuming for me and I didn't even add half as many dots as Faith does! I also added some crystal effects to the balloon and bow to give it a raised effect. The image is popped up on dimensionals. I paper pierced along the top to add another detail. So, here is the card!

An apology, and horn tootin'!!

First off, I want to apologize for the long silence! My computer was giving me fits! I could only get on it for about 5 minutes then it would lock up! I finally got desperate and purchased an external hard drive so I could dump some files to make more room on my computer, thinking that maybe the fact that I had less than 1 GB of space left on it was the problem!! I was able to free up about 25GB of space and it worked for about a day, then started locking up again! I finally got online long enough to find something to download to fix the problem. So far, so good! Now on to tooting a horn! My 11 year old daughter, Madison, is in choir at school and they were able to try out to sing a solo at the spring concert. She tried out along with 22 other kids from grades 6,7, & 8. She is in 6th. They were judged and could receive a score up to 100. She got a 96, the highest score out of all the kids that tried out!!! So, needless to say, she got to sing a solo. (they chose 3 soloists) She chose to sing " Wishing you were somehow here again" from Phantom of the Opera. Just a quick sidenote...all my kids love that movie.....is that normal? Even my 7 year old son loves it and sings all the songs from it! I'm thinking they are a little geeky or something! Anyway, I have a video of her singing!! I know everyone in the world wants to hear her sing!!! The video quality isn't that great, and it is a little hard to hear the piano but, she still sounds great!! LOL So here it is!!! If you want, you can leave her a nice comment!! :)

The liner is a gorgeous apple green color (green just happens to be my favorite color!). In Stampin' Up colors, it is close to Green Galore!! I love the white stitching detail too!! A Simple Card and an update

Well, my husband went to the doctor yesterday because he was still sick. He has been sick for over a week now! The doctor said it sounded like a parasite that is common to this area! So, he got a prescription and should be better soon!! Thank goodness! Poor thing has barely eaten in over a week! Now, on to a card!

I decided to make an easy card today! This is a super simple layout that I tend to to use a lot and can be used with so many different stamps!!! I love this color combination too!

We've been kneeling at the porcelain throne for the past week or so! In other words, we've had a stomach bug running rampant through our house! Hopefully we will be over it soon and I can start posting again! I've been too busy tending to sick kids and my sick husband to keep up with the blog right now! If you will check out Julie Buhler's blog she has a video tutorial for the last post I made! You can check it out here! I found that she had made a video, thankfully before I was able to finish mine! I also found my camera! It's been missing for about 2 or 3 weeks!!! I promise to get busy posting again soon! I have swaps I received that I plan to show you! Sorry for not keeping up!! Stay tuned!

All I can say is wow to this technique!!! I read on Julie Buhler's blog how to use your stampin' write markers to get the look of the Oh so EXPENSIVE copic markers! So I tried it out and I planned to make a video tute, but the camera battery died halfway through the video! I am charging it as I type and plan to video it again and hopefully I can get that up sometime Monday or Tuesday!! But for now, here are some photos of the results!!

I will post more details when I post the video........coming to a blog near you!!!

First off, I'm sorry for being such a slacker! I really have been super busy! Five kids tend to keep ya a little busy! AND I lost my camera again! I've had to resort to using my 14 year olds' camera and she doesn't like to share with me!

I went to my in-laws house last night and we were looking through some old magazines my mother-in-law wanted me to look at to see if I wanted any of them. There was a gift bag under the pile of magazines that I LOVED!!!!! She let me have it because I loved it so much! Well, of course the first thing I thought of when I saw the bag was that it would be super cute as a card!! I'm posting a picture of the bag and then after that is the card I made to look like it!! Feel free to play along and make a card with the bag as your inspiration and then come leave a comment with a link back to a picture of your card so I can go check it out!!!! I used a rub-on from sale-a-brations for the sentiment!

Supplies: Yo yo yellow, tempting turquoise, pink passion, pixie pink, green galore basic black, whisper white cardstock. Rub-on sentiment, Apple green 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon (retired).

Monogram Notecard Set

Today is my mother-in-law's birthday, so I decided to make her a set of monogrammed notecards! I hope she likes them!! I will give them to her tonight at dinner! I made them using Stampin up Kraft, Rose Red, and Bayou Blue Cardstocks. The patterned paper are from My Minds Eye. I printed the monogram and her name using the computer! I punched the circles using a 1 1/2 inch circle punch. I sponged around the circle with chocolate chip to give the monogram a little more definition! The notecards measure 51/2x41/4 and the box measures 4x6!

To make the box I first trimmed a piece of Kraft cardstock down to 9x8. I then scored the paper starting with the 9 inch side 4 inches in from each side.....this leaves a 1 inch space between the score lines. Turn you paper and score the 8 inch side 1 inch in from each side. Cut the 2 center lines right up to the 1 inch score lines and this will give you little tabs and sides to your box. Then just fold on the score lines making sure to fold up the little tabs first and use super duper sticky tape, otherwise known as red line tape. See photos below if you need a visual.

You could alter this and add ribbon handles to look like a purse or make a lid for it. I'll figure the measurements to make a lid later.....I've got to get ready for dinner tonight.....Mexican YUM!!!!

New stamps Part Deux!

I showed you a card yesterday made with Essence of Love that is available in the mini-catalog and today I have another card made with a set from the mini! It is called Bloomin Beautiful! When I first saw this set I instantly had an idea for it! So, yesterday I sat down and got to work and this is the result..........

Supplies: Bloomin' Beautiful Stamp set, Pale Plum, basic black, perfect plum, whisper white cardstock, basic black and versamark ink, watercolor crayons, blender pens, crystal effects, black gingham ribbon, dimensionals.

The crystal effects was used on the flowers to mimic dew drops and I also used it on the bee wings just for fun. I stamped the image 3 times once for the base, a second time to cut out just the floral image to be popped up, and a 3rd time to cut out individual blooms and pop them up. I wanted to give it dimension. I think I achieved that! Hope you like it! Until next time.........

New Stamps!!

I got some new stamps yesterday that I'm going to be using in a swap. They are from the new Occasions mini that you can see here. The first card I made uses Essence of Love! I LOVE this stamp! I've seen where several people have called it a "weed" stamp, but I don't think it looks like weeds at all! I think this card is so soft and feminine looking! I used the Faux Watercolor Technique. I have a tutorial here if you didn't see that before! I used the Green Galore and Cameo Coral watercolor crayons for this particular card. The butterfly was colored in pretty in pink and perfect plum. All the images were stamped on whisper white cardstock and layered on whisper white as well. I used a distressing tool to distress the edges of one layer to give a little definition to that layer since it was white on white. I also got some white tafetta ribbon for the first time and I LOVE it too! It is soft and easy to tie! I was inspired by another card I saw on someone elses blog, but of course I can't remember whose blog it was! If she happens to see this or someone else knows let me know and I will revise this so she gets credit!! I hope you like this card half as much as I do and I hope the swappers like it too! Here's the card! Enjoy!

A long 2 weeks!

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Someone actually unsubscribed because I haven't been updating often enough!! My cousin got very ill and was on life support for 2 weeks and they decided to take her off last week and she passed away. I had been going back and forth to the hospital to give support to family. We went out of town this past weekend to Arkansas to visit my husband's brother and his wife and see their oldest son get baptized. It was nice to be able to go visit, but it was a really fast trip!

I realize this is a paper crafting blog, but I just have to show you something else!

My husband's Aunt called me last week and asked me if I would be willing to make a baby shower cake for someone that she works with. I was a little nervous about it because this was going to be a paid job!! Here is the cake I made for her. I think it turned out really cute! She wanted the pink to be just about white. I used white icing for the main cake so it would help the pink stand out a little bit. I wish I had done a basket weave on the sides, but I didn't think of it until just about time to deliver it, so it had plain sides! I made the roses from fondant that I tinted pale pink and the shimmer is from using pearl luster! ( I hope you can see it) I LOVE that stuff!! It makes them sparkle and looks so pretty!!!

I will try to get back to stamping and posting more frequently now that life is settling back down! Thanks for sticking with me!

I made this card for my Sister-in-law for the baby shower today. I LOVE this sentiment and image sooooo much and the best part is, I only paid $1 for it!!! I'm also finding that I love the look and simplicity of one layer cards. I really love the way this card turned out!!! When she went to open my gift she knew that it was from me just by looking at the card! Everyone loved the onesies too! I also made her a little jumbo binder clip photo holder that is pictured after the card. I loved the card so much I decided I would match the photo holder to it! I know the ribbons look a little funky in the picture, but I was in a hurry to get out the door and I just took a couple of quick photos without adjusting the ribbons the way I wanted them.>

My sister-in-law is due to have a baby early in March and we are having a baby shower for her tomorrow. This is her third child, but her first girl!! We are all excited about that because my husband's family doesn't have many girls in it!! I decided as a gift I would stamp a set of onesies for her! I've seen several other examples of stamped onesies and it looked like it would be fairly easy to do! It really was easy too! I used apple barrel paints from the craft section of Wal-mart to stamp the images. I think my favorite one is the Sweet Pea one! It is such a sweet little image and it is a dollar stamp from either Michaels or JoAnns. They are thinking of naming the baby Ella, I don't know that this is set in stone, but I went with it anyway!! LOL If they change her name, it will be ok! She can just wear the onesies with the "E" at home or under other clothes!! I really love personalizing them with a monogram! It makes them a little more special I think. Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think!! Tute Tute!! Another video Tutorial!

I had a couple of questions sent to me that I thought I would address really quickly, then on to the video!!

Jackie asked.....Do you use a video or still camera that does video and what software do you use to edit your videos?

I use my digital camera that has video capabilities. I have a Kodak digital camera and it records in a quicktime format. I use a program called MOVtoAVI to convert the quicktime video to an MPEG first because the software I use doesn't recognize quicktime, then I use Windows Movie Maker to edit the video and add music, titles, and credits. Windows Movie Maker was already installed on my laptop from the factory! I don't think I know everything there is to know about it yet, but this only my 2nd video, so I think I'll get better at it as I go!

Do you have someone really patient to video you?

NOPE!!! If you saw the way I rigged up my camera you would probably die laughing!! I used the strap and lens cover that is attached to the camera and I hung it from the light fixture over my table!!! I moved my table until my workspace was lined up with the camera!!! I'll have to take a picture of my camera dangling up there!! Although for this tute, I used a tripod! I think I like the first way better though! The stupid tripod was in my way and I had to work from the side. The other way I could sit directly in front of my workspace without my head being in the video! I think I'll go back to the rigged up way!!

Now on to the good stuff!!
I have a birthday party to go to this afternoon for my husband's cousin that is turning 6 and I thought he would love a spinner card! If you don't know how to make one, then get ready to be astounded by how very easy they are to make!!! Using the Word Window Punch by Stampin Up makes these super fast and easy!! One tip I have for you is to make sure your cardstock is big enough so when you put it in the punch you can put it all the way in against the back of the punch so you don't have to try to line it up on your own! Let the punch do the work for you! I hope you enjoy it!!

Baptism Invitations

My Sister-in-law called and asked me to make some invitations for her son's baptism. I don't have any sets really geared toward a young boys baptism, but I have the set All God's Children and we decided it would be fine! She told me she wanted them to be baby blue (I used soft sky) and white and if I felt creative I could change those colors. I stuck to those as the main colors but I added a punch of Wild Wasabi and Blue Bayou to help the image pop a little! Let me know what you think of the layout and if the ribbon looks alright for an 8 year old boy!!

Oh, and on another exciting note, remember the swap I was in? The hostess (hey Elisabeth) had her customers vote for their favorite cards and my card was runner up!!! How fun is that??? I was such a nervous wreck because it was my first swap ever and I was runner up!! I was thrilled, to say the least!! I figured I would place but I thought I would be in last place!! LOL This swap was with other demonstrators and has EXTREMELY fabulous work!! As soon as I receive them I will post all the cards here for you all to see!!

One more quick note. I am going to start making a video, hopefully weekly for you to watch! I know how much I love to watch videos on other blogs, so I figured you might too!! Tutorial Time!!

A fellow splitcoaststamper came up with a great way to make a crisscross card that only uses a half sheet of cardstock instead of a whole sheet! Her name is Lynn Birus! She doesn't have a blog, so I asked if I could share how to make one here, which she happily agreed to let me! Thanks Lynn! I made a video tutorial this time!! I hope you all enjoy it! It took me several hours of editting to get it just right!! LOL But I think the next time I'll have a better idea what I'm doing! This one is a little choppy, because I was trying to "cut the fat" so to speak. The actual cardmaking time was 15 minutes. Onto the video!! It may take a minute to load.....

As you can see, I made a mistake cutting the card that goes in the pocket, but luckily....well I'm not so sure it was lucky.....I had made a card just like it before I made this video....I thought I had hit record and made the entire thing only to find that I DIDN'T push record!!! So I had to make it all over again! The first time around it was perfect, of course!!! If you have any questions on what I did, leave it in the comments and I will answer you in a new post. I think you should be able to figure it out though!! Y'all are smart!!

I've had an idea for quite a while for a card, my only problem is, I don't have the stamp set I needed to make it!! So, being the resourceful person that I am, I went to Splitcoast and went to the ISO....in search of....forums and put out a plea for someone to stamp some images for me! That plea was answered by a WONDERFUL demonstrator named Tami aka chelrel19 on splitcoast! Thank you so much Tami!!! You can check out her blog here http://www.stampingatcatscorner.com/ she has lots of really great cards and projects!! Anyway, as I was saying, I've had this idea in my head for a while to combine images from All in the Family and one of the sentiments from Time Well Spent....hee hee hee.....ok...just look! But be forewarned, this is a little twisted and it isn't one of the prettiest cards.....I've been dying to get it made, so I just slapped it together so you could see the idea!! Ok...here it is!

HA!!!!!! I just couldn't wait to show this!!! I hope you thought it was as funny as I do!!! Now, I'm off to go post it in my gallery on splitcoast for the people that have no clue I have a blog......I know, perish the thought!! Anyway, I'm going to post it for them to enjoy too!! Neopolitan Ice Cream Anyone?

I've finally figured out what I'm making for my swap!! I sorta kinda combined the first two cards I made, changed up the colors and ended up with what I think is a Beautimous card!! I love the look of pink, brown, and vanilla!! I think it is one of my most favorite color combos! I stamped the chocolate chip cardstock with versamark like a one sheet wonder. I used clear embossing powder to emboss the images to give them more depth. I also inked up the flower images with versamark first, then inked them with classic ink, stamped the images, then embossed with clear embossing powder. Embossing powder won't stick to classic ink because it dries too fast, and I don't have all the craft inks yet, so this is an alternative way to emboss with your colored inks. I also stamped the sentiment on the ribbon with versamark then clear embossed it. It gives a nice effect. I sewed the chocolate chip and pretty in pink layers together then roughed up the edges with my fingernail. Instead of a cherry on top, I put a pearl on top! I think it is very pretty!

That is my 3 year old's favorite song!! LOL He sings it all the time......Thanks to the movie Shrek!!! In fact, the little stinker sang it as I was cropping the pictures for this post!! Anyway, I bought a stamp about 3 years ago, and I'm embarrassed to say, it had NEVER seen ink until now!! I loved it the moment I saw it and thought it would be GREAT for my sisters and girlfriends!! They will get a kick out of it I'm sure!! I started out with a 8.5x8.5 piece of cardstock. I wanted a tall card. I watercolored using my markers and blender pens. I used one of those pieces of plexiglass or acrylic, you know the ones I got while trash pickin'!!! Anway, I scribbled a spot on it with my marker, then ran my blender pen through it to pick up some color. I bought some aquapainters and plan to try those the next time I watercolor. I've never tried them before, so it should be interesting! If anyone has any tips for me, don't be shy!! Let me know how you use them or if you even like them!!! Anyway, on to the good stuff!! This stamp really cracks me up!

Supplies: Basic gray, rose red, basic black, whisper white cardstock. Basic black, versamark inks. Stampin Write markers, blender pens, black sheer polka-dot ribbon.

Ok I have another sample for a swap. Here is my new card. I personally LOVE the black embossing powder on the black cardstock! I love it on the vanilla too. I stamped cherish on the ribbon in versamark and embossed it with black EP as well! Please let me know if you prefer this one or the Plum one in the previous post!! I really can't decide!! I took the picture with a green background so you could see the vanilla. It was hard to see against a white background, as you can tell at the bottom! I was too lazy to change the bottom paper too! LOL

I signed up for a swap on Splitcoaststampers and let me just tell you, I'm a nervous wreck about it!! It has to be demo quality and Stampin Up supplies only. So, I'm posting a picture here for the world to see and judge, if you feel so inclined. I used pale plum, perfect plum, and very vanilla cardstock and I used Pale and perfect plum inks. I also dyed my white ribbon with my pale plum stampin write marker to coordinate. I sewed around the edges of the top layers and roughed up the edges with my fingernail. I finished it off with an off-white pearl from the pretties kit.....Thanks Elisabeth!! Do you see anything I should change? Let me know if you would like to receive this as a swap!!! Be gentle! Here is a new card I made for the Birthday Bash! I was at the store the other day and saw these colors together...Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White. I honestly can't remember what the colors were on, but I do remember that I told myself I couldn't forget the color combination!! I really loved it! And this Chocolate Satin Ribbon is to die for!!! It is so rich looking!! If you will notice, the happy birthday sentiment is actually the hoppy birthday sentiment from the Unfrogettable stamp set. I just used my black Stampin Write marker to add the line to make the "o" an "a". I love that I can get extra use from that stamp!! I wanted to outline the print pattern background with my white gel pen, but the silly thing wouldn't write for me, so instead, I pressed hard and sort of debossed around the pattern. It adds a little more visual interest to the card. I think I will remake the card without the outlines though to help the card making go quicker, because the simpler the better when it comes to making a lot of cards in one sitting! Here is the complete card! I colored the butterfly from Time Well Spent with my Pink and Turquoise markers. I stamped Print Pattern Background with versamark and the sentiment it stamped in Basic Black. It is a really simple card! Thanks for looking!

Giggle, Giggle, Laugh, Laugh

I have a friend that asked me to make a framed sign that said "giggle giggle laugh laugh" for her teenaged step-daughter. That saying is one of the many silly sayings the teenager has and my friend thought it would be fun to give it to her for Christmas. The girl isn't very girly, and they are planning to redo her room in black and white with red accents. That is about as much as I was told and my friend said just go for it because she always likes the things I make. So, I thought about it for about a week, then went shopping for some fun black and white papers. I bought some red ribbon, red rhinestones, and black glitter to give it a little BLING!! I used my cricut to cut the letters and the solid shadows in red. I coated each letter in glue and black glitter and when they were dry I attached the letters to the red solid shadows with dimensionals. I put the red rhinestones in a swirl pattern at the end of the giggle and the beginning of laugh. I wanted the letters to be free form to give it movement, because to me it mimics giggling and laughing! I added some fun red felt flowers and some funky big brads by....I want to say Making Memories, but I may be lying to you!!

When I delivered it, my friend was really surprised! She said she was expecting something small!! LOL I don't do small!! It was better than she imagined it would be.....at least that is what she told me!LOL I love it when that happens!! That is why I love to craft!!

I totally forgot to take pictures before I delivered it, but went over the other night with my camera in tow and took a few pictures! So here is the finished product with a few detail shots as well!! Hope ya like it!

It's a Hoppy Birthday!

I sat down last night to make a birthday card design for my Birthday Card Bash that I will be having next week. This is a class where I will have 12 card designs, 2 each boy, girl, tween girl, tween boy, adult female, adult male. My customers can come and make however many birthday cards they want or need for the next 6 months for only $1 per card! I will have everything already designed and cut all they have to do is stamp and assemble! I looked through Stampin Up's Spring Summer Catalog yesterday looking for some color combinations that would be good for a little boy's birthday! On page 66 is a great color combo!!! I just love brightly colored cards! To me they exude happiness and fun! So I went with these colors for the card I made last night! The colors are Taken with Teal, Pumpkin Pie...both colors I rarely use...and Rose Red and Old Olive! I love these colors together! The Stampin Up catalog is full of FAB-U-LOUS ideas this year!! 2 tutorials for the price of 1!!

I said before that I would do a tutorial on faux watercoloring and I decided today would be a great day for that!! I needed ribbon in a rose color and Stampin Up doesn't have 1/4" grosgrain in that color, so that is where you get 2 tutorials for the price of 1! I am going to give you a super quick explanation of how to custom dye your own grosgrain ribbon so you will have whatever color you need when you need it!!

Custom Dying Grosgrain Ribbon

Supplies needed: White Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin Write Markers, Classic Ink Pads, or Classic Ink Reinkers.

In this case I used the markers. All you have to do is lay your ribbon on a piece of grid paper or scrap paper and color it on both sides until the color is consistent. If you want to use your ink pads, you just drag your ribbon across the ink pad. I usually hold a sponge in one spot to put some pressure on the ribbon to help it wick out the ink. You can also use your reinkers by putting some reinker into a little water to help dilute it just a little. Place your ribbon into the mix and let it soak. If you find your color is not as vibrant as you would like, add more reinker and put the ribbon back to soak a little longer.

The reason I did this tutorial first is you need to give your ribbon plenty of time to dry so that the ink doesn't bleed onto your card. If you aren't sure what color you want before you make your card, you can make it after, just be sure to let it dry before adding it to your project!!

Faux Watercoloring

Supplies: Watercolor Crayons, or stampin write markers, or classic ink pads, cardstock, water bottle

Step 1: Use your watercolor crayon to color directly onto your rubber stamp. You can also color with a marker or ink up your stamp with a classic ink pad on this step.

Step 2: Spritz the stamp with water several times until it is fairly wet.

Step 3: Stamp image just like you normally would.

Step 4: Add other stamped images using the faux watercoloring technique. I used 3 colors on the little flowers...summer sun, regal rose, and pixie pink. To achieve multi-colored images you either need to use the crayons or markers. You can get 2 colors using ink pads by using the rock and roll technique. I will do a tutorial on that technique at a later date, so check back for that!!!

Step 5: Finish your card using your custom dyed ribbon!!!

Here is a close up of what the image looks like. You don't get a crisp image like you do when you just ink up your stamp. I love the soft watercolored look you achieve with this technique!! Isn't it awesome????

My father-in-law loves to, what we affectionately call, go junking!! That means, he goes and gets things that other people don't want anymore, their junk, and then sells it to people that do want it, or he uses it himself. Anyway, he has been cleaning up a piece of property where there is TONS of junk....and I do mean tons!! My husband and I went over there to look around, because, Hey, I like digging for treasures!! You never know what you might find!! While we were out there looking, we came across this HUGE pile of plexiglass strips! SCORE!!!! They are 3 inches wide and various lengths! I KNEW I could do something with them, so we loaded up 2 milk crates...which were also there....double score! Those will come in handy later!! Anyway, we loaded up 2 milkcrates FULL of plexiglass strips!!!! Now, time to show you what FABULOUS things I did with them!!! Oh and guess what stamp set I used.........you got it!! Baroque Motifs!!!! And my new favorite ribbon, Satin Pomegranite!! I used white stazon, which is not my most favorite ink by the way!!! I also used the retired Headline Alphabet. I'm still in denial that it and Letterpress have been retired!! They will never retire at my house!! They will work until the rubber falls right off of them!!!!

Aren't they Lover-ly????? I just love the look of the clear with the white ink!!! I have a TON of these strips in long lengths too!! I have a couple more cards I made with baroque motifs!! Did I say last time I posted how much I love this set? Well, just in case you missed it....I LOVE THIS SET!!! It is so pretty and you can't really do anything wrong with it!! I have one other thing I've found that I love! GRID PAPER!! Where has it been all my life!! When I made the second card, I used it to evenly space the polka-dots along the sides!! I will never stamp without it again!!! Alright, I'm not going to bore everyone with my ramblings today!! Oh yeah baby!! New stamps!! I'm in LOVE with Baroque Motifs! I sat down last night with my new colors of cardstock!! I finally got the in-colors and the new basic gray!! Basic Gray and baroque motifs both have such an elegant quality about them!! Then if it is paired with Purely Pomegranite.......OH MY GOSH!!!!! B--U-TIF-UL!!! Don't believe me???? Then feast your eyes on this!!!!!

Now do you see why I am so in love????? This next card is a simple one you can make with your kids for Valentine's Day! It is a 3x3 size....also known as a love note. I started with a Pretty in Pink 3x3 card base and put a strip of Purely Pomegranite Cardstock. I used the free set mentioned in yesterday's post.....Time Well Spent. I stamped the little flower in versamark all over the Pretty in Pink and Purely Pomegranite. I stamped the heart in basic black on whisper white and watercolored it using a rose red and pretty in pink (for the flower) watercolor crayons. I stamped the xoxoxo using the retired hostess set...So Many Sayings and then finished it off with a piece of pink gingham ribbon! Isn't it sweet??? I love this size card too!! So fun and easy to make!!

Oh the Torture!!!

I'm am very IMPATIENTLY waiting on UPS to deliver my order! So, I figured what the heck, I'll stamp something with some of the stamps I already own!!! What a novel idea!! Who would have thought you could use what you already own instead of having to have something new!! So, it took out Time Well Spent. This is a new level 3 hostess set from Stampin Up! They sent it to all their demonstrators as a thank you for all that we do!!! Awwwww! How sweet huh?? Since I've gotten this set, it has barely seen any ink! Why you ask?? Because as cute as the images are, I've had a hard time coming up with a design. So, I sat down today and tried it out again! I have seen others use white embossing powder for line art images then watercoloring them in and I love the effect. I also love when people take the time to stamp a 2nd image of a butterfly and then cut it out and pop up the wings to look like it is about to take flight!! Here is my card with those 2 elements I so love!!

I used Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstocks. I used versamark ink with white embossing powder for all images. I watercolored the images using watercolor crayons! Ribbon is from Walmart! I love sheer polka-dot ribbon!!!!!

And now, I'm off to go pick up my girls from school! My oldest has a doctor's appointment this afternoon. I'm sure UPS is waiting around the corner anxiously awaiting my departure so they can deliver my package while I'm away!!!

New Rubbah!!!

I'm so excited!! I have an order due to arrive today!!! Of course, it doesn't have any of the NEW catty sets in it. But it has a new to me set in it!!! I FINALLY ordered baroque motifs!! I have loved that set since I first saw it, but I just haven't had a chance until now to get it!! So stay tuned later today!! As soon as I get it, I'm sure I'll make something OUT OF THIS WORLD with it!! LOL Ok, maybe not out of this world, but hopefully something really pretty!

UPDATE.......in case you didn't already figure this out.....I'm an IDIOT!!! My order is due tomorrow NOT today!!! Since when is the 8th tomorrow???? I could have sworn it was today!! So, now I have to go make something FABULOUS just for being so dumb!!!

Ohmmmmmmm.......deep breath in through nose out through mouth.........I'm trying to relax after the super hectic Christmas we had! I'm so glad that it's over!! I have been so exhausted with all the shopping and preparing and nerves!! Nerves you ask???? Yes nerves!! I sang the Sunday before Christmas in Sacrament meeting at church. Sacrament meeting, for all of you that are not LDS, is our worship service. Anyway, I sang Angels We Have Heard on High. You know the one with the super long Glorias!!! I was so nervous I was shaking...HARD!!! I just knew everyone could see me shaking!! You would think that after all these years of singing in church that I wouldn't get nervous, but it has been a very long time since the last time I sang, so I was a wreck!! Oh and to top all the festivities off.........I had a staph infection in my leg!! Wonderful, huh??? That hasn't completely healed yet either! I really should go back to the doctor, but I hate to go! I don't enjoy seeing the doctor....AT ALL!! When I went in the first time for my leg, the nurse pulled out a scalpel, some lidocaine and a shot needle........I got teary eyed!!! Seriously....what adult cries at the doctor's office?????? Me apparently! I'm such a chicken! Alright, enough about my life! I have some fun things I've made that I want to share!!

This Christmas card was made for my in-laws. I made it in about 10 minutes......I totally forgot to make one, so I threw it together right before we left. That's why there's not many embellishments on it!!! I used basic grey....either figgy pudding or fruitcake paper, I can't remember which one, rose red and chocolate chip cardstock from Stampin Up, and I used the stickers from the Basic Grey figgy pudding or fruitcake paper collection. I also added three half pearls from the pretties kit......Thank you Elisabeth for the gift!!! Oh and the Christmas stamp is a $1 stamp from Michaels.

This next card was also made with either the figgy pudding or fruitcake paper. The word merry was cut out of certainly celery cardstock with the cricut, then coated in dazzling diamonds glitter. Other cardstock colors are bashful blue and rose red. This was a super fast card.
This sign was made for my in-laws. I used power tools on this one!!! I routed the edges of the board all by myself!!! I painted it with apple barrel black acrylic paint, then I sanded the edges to distress it some. I cut the words and numbers with the cricut using the basecamp cartridge. I then mod podged it all down. I think it turned out great!!

This last project was made for the craft fair I did. I used the Letterpress Alphabet to stamp His and Hers over 2 decorative hooks. I had to use the stamp-a-ma-jig for letter placement,. The paper is by Anna Griffin and I just LOVE it!!!! I took the glass out of the frame....obviously!! It is a pretty straight forward project

Stampin Up put out the new retirement list today. You can go here to check it out! I am happy to say, I only lost 3 sets this time around. But, I'm extremely sad to say that 2 of those are Letterpress Alphabet and Headline Alphabet! I don't plan to get rid of either of them though! I also lost Flaky Friends. That was the very first set I ever bought from Stampin Up! Now, the planning begins! I am thinking I will post a list soon of all the retired sets I'm finally ready to part with. So stay tuned if you would like to get some oldies but goodies!!

I've been without a blog banner for several days! I've had a new one made but couldn't get it to upload! I finally got it to upload this morning! I guess blogger just wasn't in the mood to accept new pictures the past few days!

I have a craft fair that I mentioned in another post earlier that is coming up on December 8th. I've been working on some items and I want to take a picture, but guess what.....I can't find my silly digital camera!! I don't know where I put the thing! Santa is bringing my 13 year old a really nice one for Christmas this year......I wonder if she would notice if I used it, then repackaged it?????

So far, I've made a bunch of little peppermint patties like the ones seen here at Cambria Turnbows blog! She has some amazing things on her blog. I'm sure the majority of people that have visited here, have also been by her blog. Some days, I think........Wow, I really am wasting people's time having a blog! There are so many more talented stampers out there!! But, then I think....oh well, if they didn't want to look, they wouldn't stop by! So, a big THANK YOU to all of you that stop by and see what I'm up to!

Ok, back to my list of stuff!!!! I've made the aforementioned peppermint patties, some altered wooden frames, some post-it note holders and matching pens, indoor smores kits, snowman soup in mugs.....hmmmmm what else??? I don't remember right now....but I plan to make some toothfairy tins, and some tic tac toe tins. I will take some pictures as soon as I can lay hands on my MIA camera!!! My sister gave birth to her seventh baby on Thanksgiving night!! Her name is Sarah Beth.......Beth is my middle name!!! How fun is that???? It really was my turn to have a baby named after me since she has 2 other kids named after 2 of our siblings, one of my sisters and one of my brothers!! The fun part is she is number 7 and I am number 7 in my family. We were both born in November and we have the same middle name!! I'm dorky I know!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving week and got to spend time with your family and friends stuffing yourselves silly!!! We did just that and it was FABULOUS!!! I love all the yummy foods for Thanksgiving! Now, I need to focus on Christmas! I've got tons of work to get done between now and Christmas! I have a craft show on December 8th, I am going to make all my kids a flannel blanket and matching PJ bottoms for Christmas, and I'm setting up my new internet store!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee! Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear ME-E, happy birthday to me!! LOL
Today is my birthday!! I turned 33 years old (gasp)!! My wonderful sister-in-law called me up bright and early this morning and told me she was coming to get all five of my kids so I could have the day to do whatever I wanted!! How fun is that??? So, what did I do with my day you ask?? I started working on some projects for a craft fair I'm going to participate in on December 8th. I know, I should have relaxed, but crafting is so fun to me, that I totally didn't mind working on it. Of course, my digital camera is in my car that my husband took to work today, so I couldn't take any pictures. I'll take some tomorrow and load them up. Tonight we are going out for dinner with the kiddos to celebrate, so no time to take pictures when he gets home! Oh, and one more quick thing....my older sister was due to have her 7th baby this past Saturday.....but she wasn't born.....I'm hoping today is the day!! Wouldn't that be fun?? I told my sis, that she would have to name the baby after me if she is born today! I've called her 2 times already and no answer, so hopefully that means something is happening!! I'll update the status as soon as I find out!!! I hope you have a great rest of the day! I know I will! Check back for some new pictures soon!!

Video Trial Run

So I have a video I made......well, not a video really, more like a slideshow put to music. I used some video editing software on my computer and I just wanted to see if it would upload......so here goes nothing...

The music is Earl of Essex's Galliard by The Buffalo Guitar Quartet. This is a group of 4 (duh) classical guitar (duh again) players that my husband and I went to see when we were dating 11 years ago!!! Their music is really nice and soothing.

Another reason I wanted to try this video editing software is because I'm going to be putting together a slideshow for my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary/family reunion that myself and my 8 brothers and sisters are putting together for next summer! Luckily, my parents don't read my blog, so I can post that info!! I have to start collecting pictures now so I can create a video that I can put on DVD for everyone. We also have a ton of 8mm film we need to have put on DVD...so if anyone of you knows where in the world we can have that done I would so appreciate a lead!!

I think I've got the video editing figured out, now I just have to figure out how to change the video format from quicktime to something this program will recognize....my digital camera takes video in quicktime format.......anyway....I'd appreciate a little coaching on that too, anyone out there in cyperspace knows how in the world to do that! Then I could make a FUN video tutorial with MUSIC (you don't want to hear my HICK accent)!! Woohoo!! Stay tuned for more blogging fun!!!

Liar, Liar, pants on fire!

Alright......so I don't have a video to upload.....YET! I keep forgetting to ask my husband where the tripod is. But I do have a picture of another card for you. Before I post this picture I want you to know that I made this card about 3 years ago or so. The designer paper from Stampin Up has long since been retired, but you could use another one that would probably look much better. Also, the gift card was from Target and they don't have them anymore either. BUT you could get some belt buckle style stickers....I pulled the gift card off and stuck on one for you to see. They are cowboy style, but UBER cute for a guy card! They are by Karen Foster Design. So the first picture is of my original design......which BTW is very similar to the Bronc Buster card I posted a few weeks ago.

Isn't that fun????? I had originally planned to send this in for publication consideration. But, I never did do it. I'm too chicken I guess. Anyway, here's the second version for your viewing pleasure.....I just replaced the buckle......

I think both work on the card....of course who doesn't like receiving a gift card? (loaded of course) Now, I have a confession to make. My Husband is the one that saw that gift card at Target and gave me the idea to use it in this way! Yep, he's definitely a keeper! Stay tuned for another exciting episode, that may or may not include a video....hee hee hee.....way to get myself off the hook, huh????

A cake and some CARDS!!!!!!

I hope y'all don't get sick of seeing things other than stamping!! I have another cake I made that turned out so cute, I can't stop myself from posting it! I will put that picture up and then I'll add some STAMPED things! (since this blog IS supposed to be about stamping and scrapping!!!)Alright, now on to some cards. I wanted to use my Bronc Buster stamp set and I needed some color inspiration. So I opened the catalog to the very beginning and whaddya know??? There is the Boho West look and it has colors to go along with it. So I chose some colors from that to make a card. Please forgive my PITIFUL ribbon. I dyed some 1/4 inch white grosgrain with my chocolate chip ink pad and it dried kinda purplish. I've since read that you can't dye ribbon with chocolate chip. I did, however, try my timber brown stazon later and at first it looked black, but after it dried it turned a nice DARK brown. The only problem I had with the stazon is it made the ribbon stiff. Unfortunately, Stampin Up! isn't selling 1/4 inch chocolate grosgrain anymore, so you either have to have stiff ribbon or use the 5/8 inch Chocolate Chip.....which I'm sure would have been great, if I'd had some! So here's the card........

Ingredients:Cardstock....Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow, Really Rust...Ink...Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa.....Stamps.....Bronc Buster, Canvas.....Accessories....1/4 inch White Grosgrain Ribbon, Chocolate Chip Ink pad, Chocolate Chip Stampin Write Marker

This next card was a near total catalog CASE. I loved the card sample in the catalog for Fun & Fast Notes , but I don't have any Soft Sky Cardstock or ink(which will be remedied VERY soon!), and I also don't have any of the Designer paper.....so I just replaced the Soft Sky with Bashful Blue and made my own Designer paper by stamping versamark with a brand new pencil eraser!!! How fun is that?? I love challenging myself to find ways to make something when I don't have ALL the ingredients needed! My paper piercing sucks.....I should have used my sewing machine.....since it hasn't seen the light of day in quite a while.....and I would have gotten a more uniform line of holes....but hey, I was in a hurry and used a needle and just eyeballed it!! Enough jibber jabber......

Ingredients: Cardstock.....Bashful Blue, Ruby Red, Close To Cocoa, Whisper White....Ink.....Basic Black, Versamark.....Accessories.....Corner rounder punch, Certainly Celery Ribbon, Black hemp, Watercolor Crayons, Pencil Eraser, needle.

Now wasn't that fun? I also made the next card with the Christmas tree from Fun & Fast Notes with this same color combo and look! I must have a fever or something! I'm posting way more cards than EVAH before!!!

I'm going to try to make a tutorial video for my next post.....we'll see how that goes! LOL I don't know if it is going to be difficult or not.....so stay tuned! It should be interesting!!

Alright this is not something I stamped. I also love to do other crafts and one of the them is making jewelry. I am the 2nd counselor and beehive advisor for the young women at church....if you aren't LDS, a beehive advisor is a teacher to 12-13 year old girls. For our Wednesday night activity tomorrow night I thought it would be fun to make bracelets with the YW value colors. So I picked up some Swarovski Crystals and silver beads for them to make a bracelet that would be dressy enough for them to wear on Sundays, and they can also wear them to school or whatever too. I looked online at several different internet stores and just couldn't find what I was looking for....I wanted something nice, not cheap looking. I'm thinking of selling these because I'm sure there are others out there looking for something more along these lines......so here is the bracelet..........

Baby Showers........UGGGHHHHH!!!

I'm already tired of baby showers! I have 55 invitations I have finish very soon, and today, I baked a cake for a shower tonight. I had grand ideas of making a 3D cake....BUT the cake had other ideas!! It didn't want to stand up. I wanted it to look like a baby basinet or buggie.....But it still turned out alright I guess. It definitely isn't what I wanted it to look like, but it isn't a paid job, so I won't get any complaints!! Hee hee! I've never taken any cake decorating classes so I'm definitely not a professional at this. I know this isn't the best looking cake, but like I said, I'm doing it for a friend's shower and she will appreciate it anyway.......I HOPE!! I had to figure out how to do the basket weave. Which honestly was a "piece of cake"HAAAAAAA.....I kill myself!! AHEM.......Really, it was very easy to do, but it got a little tricky trying to match up the sides with the top.....that's why it has all the pink border on it!! I know, I know!!.....I didn't put it straight on the board.......I'm a big dork!! And CONGRATULATIONS is a LONG word!! I had to pick it off the first time because I started it about where the G is......I couldn't fit the "tions" on the end!! I guess I could've just said CONGRATS! Dang!! NOW I think of that!!! OK I have another cake to make in 2 weeks.....so I will remember that little tidbit!! I know this isn't stamping....so I hope you all don't quit coming to look at my blog because I put something other than stamped stuff on here!! That's me! I have been "hired" to make custom baby shower invitations. I'm also making 2 baby shower cakes, one for this weekend and one for the 20th of October! Oh yeah, and I have 7 different project classes to teach on Saturday the 13th for a super saturday at our church!! I will post samples of all those projects as I get them made. I was reading about cards with no layers......NONE. How in the world are you supposed to make a card with no layers you ask?? Don't tell, but I was wondering the same thing. But I have to say that I saw some absolutely GOR-JUS samples. So, I decided I would take a stab at it too. In this particular thread I was reading, they wanted examples of Christmas cards, so that is what I made. Talk about LIMITED supplies! I only own one christmas set...Flaky friends. But I also have Fun and Fast Notes and the little tree in that set is so cute. So here is my one layer card.....please don't laugh toooooo hard. I tried adding a ribbon but it was just too much! HA! I think it is really purty as is....let me know what ya think!

The ingredients for this card are:

Whisper white cardstock, basic black ink, bashful blue ink, pastels, scrap paper to make reverse mask, sponge, blender pens.

Do ya likey? Hope so! I have quite a few samples to post over the next few days...so stay tuned for oh so much more!!!

I have been so busy, that I have TOTALLY neglected my blog. I have a fun card I made that I want to share. I've had this idea in my head since I saw Bronc Buster!! It isn't exactly the way I want it to look, and as soon as I get the Wild West Alpha, I plan to stamp words on the belt, like kids' belts that have the tooled leather with their names on them. So, if you see anyone with that on a card......remember you saw the idea here first!! hee hee! Ok....on to the card. It was made with:

but just barely!!! We've been so busy packing and getting our things moved to our new house, I haven't had any time for myself! We have everything but ourselves moved in. We are in the middle of laying laminate flooring, so we are staying with my husband's parents until we get that done. Hopefully it will only take a couple more days to get it done! I'm ready to be in my OWN house again!! Maybe by next week I'll actually be able to unpack my stamps!! I've missed stamping these past few weeks!! Stay tuned to see if I,or my kids survive the floor installation! Right now, my kids are all misbehaving and may not survive the DAY!!!!!!!

I'm trying to convince myself that trials are good for you. They make you stronger, right??? Sometimes I just wish I could just stay weak! Ok, I'm kidding!! Seriously though, we got a call from our landlords this past Saturday that one of their kids is in a tight spot and they need us to move out of our house so their kid can move in here!!!!! Can you believe it? My husband was so shocked when she called and told him all he could do was say OK!!! Then he called me in the room and told me we had to be out of here by September 1st......so I grabbed the phone from him and called her right back and not so nicely told her she was out of her mind!! We have FIVE kids and three of them are starting school next month so we have a ton of stuff to buy next month!!! To say the least, that alone was going to strap our budget! But I also have to say that we did some mighty ernest praying over the weekend and we've already found a new place to live and we are going to be buying it....and we get to move in on the 1st of August!!! This has all turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I was totally stressed out and cried for 2 days because I was so worried about how much was going to be going on in August.....you know shopping for school, getting the kids settled in school, having to house hunt and HOPE that we would be able to find somewhere to live in an area where there are next to NO places listed for rent right now!! We are in the area where Hurricane Rita came through, so there are not very many places to rent because there are still a lot of contractors in the area renting all the vacant homes! I'm afraid I won't be posting a whole lot in the next few weeks because I will be busy packing, moving, and then unpacking!! I dread moving, but I know in the end it will be the best for us!! I do have a couple of projects I made using the Crop-a-dile! That is THE best invention EVAH!!!!! I will try and get them posted one night this week! Sorry for all the personal stuff here....I really planned to keep all personal stuff off my blog because I didn't want people to have to wade through it to get to the nitty gritty of stamping, but I just needed to yell from the rooftops that I'm going to live....even if my blood pressure was nearly through the roof this weekend!! Obviously everything happens for a reason, and I really need to learn that "this too shall pass". Luckily it was seen fit to show me that is can pass pretty quickly! I'm not very good at being patient! Alrighty......I'll quit yacking now! Sorry for the long read!!

My First New Catalog Order

I thought I would let you know what is on my first new catty order! I've been mulling it over for a while now, and have FINALLY decided on the first few stamp sets I want.

I am getting Bronc Buster, Starstruck, and the Bronco wheel....HELLO I am in TEXAS!! Gotta have my cowboy stuff!! I'll get Wanted and the Wild West Alpha in my next order!!

I also decided to get Fun and Fast Notes! That little bird with the flower is so dang cute! I think I may mount the images and put the sentiments on the sides of the blocks. And last but not least, Pick a Petal. I think it will make some really cute cards too. Oh and I almost forgot, I'm getting Two Cute...those little flowers are TOO cute!

My next order I want to get Wanted and Wild West Alpha like I already said, and I want to get All in the Family!! Those little stick people are going to make some fun projects!! My entire wishlist isn't extremely long....with stamp sets, I only have 39 sets listed.....as of right now!! ::evil grin:: I'm sure the more I study the catalog and look at all the wonderful samples on SCS, the more I will have to have.

Now on to more pressing business.......I think I'm going to change the layout of my blog. For some reason words are getting lost in the outer edges of my narrow little space. So, I'm going to start trying out different layouts until I find one that let's all my words be seen. I noticed today that the recipe I put on here is missing some important directions, that I know I typed!! So stay tuned to see the changes!!

I'll be busy cleaning out my craft room tomorrow!!!! How exciting huh?? My wonderful sister-in-law is going to keep all 5 of my kids so I can actually get something accomplished in there! I have some pictures of how messy it is in there....well, pictures of my desk anyway(but I'm not about to publish it)!!! I wouldn't let anyone see my room in all it's glory the way it looks right now!! My 2 year old dumped 2 things of glitter on the floor in there about a week ago and it's still there....except for what has stuck to the bottoms of my feet and I've tracked back out of there!! But the mess'll be cleaned up TOMORROW, betcha prima flowers that TOMORROW, I'll be done!! TOMORROW, TOMORROW, I love ya TOMORROW no kids to stop my progress!!!!!!! Sing it with me!! You know you want to!!!

Jumbo Paperclip Bookmark Project

This is a fun little project that is really easy and doesn't take too much time.....well, drying time takes a while, but overall hands on time is not long! I've seen them made by others on Splitcoast stampers and I thought they were sooooo cute!! Here's how you make them.....

Supplies:
Jumbo paperclip, chipboard, paper punch, industrial strength glue, Designer paper or stamped images, embellishments

Step 1:
Punch 2 shapes (I used a circle here) of chipboard and 2 of designer paper or
stamped images and glue an image to each piece of chipboard.

Step 2:
Tie ribbon in a loose knot

Step 3:
Put one punched chipboard with image down. Glue ribbon and jumbo paperclip to chipboard using industrial strength glue.....
use a pretty big blob to make sure there is enough
to stick the top on. Put the other piece of chipboard with image
up on top to make a sandwich. Put something heavy on top while it dries to make
sure it doesn't pop apart. Easy huh??
There are a ton of ways to make these and they make great inexpensive
gifts!

I'm so sorry it has been so long since I've posted anything new! My husband has been on vacation and we've been spending time with the kids, so, no time for the computer!! I'm sure you want to hear all about our little day trip we took huh???? We took our kids to NASA Space Center in Houston, which is about 2 hours away from us. It really was a lot of fun! If you ever get a chance to go, you should!  My husband goes back to work tomorrow!!! So I should be able to get back to posting!! ::sigh:: I hate for him to have to go back!! It has been so nice having him home!! Now I'm off to make him a special treat to break the blow of having to go back to work! I'll share the recipe with you so you can try them! And let me just say........you are going to LOVE these! If you don't like cream cheese, don't pre-judge because of that! I hate cream cheese too, but these are to die for and you can't taste the cream cheese AT ALL!! Now if you hate chocolate....first of all.....my condolences!! And second, you won't like these, they are the most chocolatey goodness you will ever put in your mouth!!

White Trash Truffles
1 pack of Oreos
1 8 oz block Cream Cheese (room temp)
2 bags Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

Crush Oreos in a ziploc bag until they are a fairly fine consistency.  Mix Oreos with Cream Cheese.  Shape into 1 inch balls.
Melt chocolate chips.  Dip balls into melted chocolate to completely
coat.
Set on waxed paper lined cookie sheet.  Put in fridge to set chocolate.  OH MY!!

Stay tuned......and when I come out of my chocolate coma, I will be sure to post something GREAT!!

Smackin' Acetate

I guess I'm not going to be able to call my techniques Technique Tuesday anymore considering I haven't gotten one up on a Tuesday yet! I suppose I'll just call it Technique Tutorials. So on with the Technique Tutorial!
I decided to show you how to do smackin' acetate for the technique this week. It is really easy and fun and you get a really great background!! This is something anyone can do and get great results!! It will look like you took time to make a nice watercolored background when if fact all you did is scribble a little!!! And ANYONE can scribble! So now on to the nitty gritty!!

Supplies:
Transparencies, stamp and write markers, water in a spray bottle, whisper white cardstock, stamps, embellishments

Step 1:
Scribble on the transparency with your markers......not much to that huh??

Step 2:
Mist your scribbles with water until the colors start to get runny.....Oooooo difficult!!

Step 3:
Press your white cardstock into the color and pull off

Step 4:
Finish your card!

Now is that not one of the easiest things ever?? And look at that background! It looks like a sky huh??? I love, love, love it!! Now.....you all go smack some acetate and let me know how it goes! Stay tuned for a fun project later this week!

I don't know what the deal is! I had some uploading problems last week, so I finally downloaded Mozilla Firefox and that fixed the problem! Well, now it won't work! I pull up firefox and it takes all day to load one stinkin' page! I haven't even dared to try and get to the dashboard and write or upload pictures! I have a new tutorial all ready to go too! I guess I'll have to get firefox off my computer, then download it again! This really aggravates me! Hopefully I can get it to downloaded this evening sometime and then I will post that fun tutorial!!

Will Melanie break her computer??? Will she throw it out the window??? Will she have patience???? (not likely) Stay tuned to find out..........

Super easy project!!

I went to Target the other day and picked up some little notebooks that are so cute. I saw that Jenn Balcer had altered some you can look at her's here ---> Jenn Balcer » Target Lovin’....so I thought I would take a stab at it. They are kraft colored with different colored "bindings". I bought two of them to alter.....one with turquoise and one with black bindings. They also have an elastic that wraps around from the back to hold them closed. So here's a picture of the one I altered.
I absolutely love dark brown with turquoise! The ribbon I chose with the single stitch inspired me to put faux stitching on the monogram and on each layer of the mats for the monogram and flowers! I think it turned out pretty cute. It was pretty simple to put together. I put the ribbon on with some super duper sticky tape, stamped the letter M in turquoise with letterpress alpha, used my white signo gel pen to put some faux stitching on the M. Then I cut the mats for the letter and did faux stitching on them. I stamped the flower from shapes and shadows in turquoise and put a chocolate chip dot in the center of each. I matted the flowers on chocolate chip and then did faux stitching around them. I'm ready for my close-up!! (Don't look too closely.....my faux stitching isn't perfect!) The last thing I did was tie some ribbon on the elastic. This was a pretty fast and easy project! Stay tuned for another episode....and maybe I'll actually get a new technique up on Tuesday!

Ribbon Cutting 101

You can cut ribbon you say??? Well, this technique tutorial is about an easier way to make a "bow" and save some ribbon as you don't have to use a long length of ribbon to go all the way around the backside of the cardfront too!! It's not really a bow per se......well, you'll see....

Supplies:
Cardstock, ribbon, stamps glue dots, embellishments

Step 1:
Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go the length of the card plus have some left for tying. Tie the ribbon around your finger......I tied my ribbon with one long side and one shorter side so that my knot would be off center on my finished card.

Step 2:
Cut loop of the ribbon on the bottom of the loop...the knot is on the top..... while it is still on your finger. Cut ribbon at an angle to help reduce fraying.

Step 3:
Glue long ends on back of cardfront. You will have to attach cardfront to standard card to hide the back of the cardfront. Finish your card!

They locked me out of my blog because it was suspected to be a spam blog by google's spam robots!! HA! So there was no getting in for anyone for a couple days. I couldn't change anything either, which was actually ok because I've had sick kids since Friday.....which is in my Father's Day post.....well last night my 7 year old son, Porter, started with the puking and Levi still wasn't over it as of 3 am this morning, we had to change the sheets in my bed at 3 am! He seems to be better today though! So stay tuned and I will try to get the technique up ASAP!!!

I made this card for my husband this morning for Father's Day. We have 2 sick little ones....Bowman, our almost 3 year old, has been running a fever and feeling cruddy for 2 days now and Levi, our 15 month old, woke up puking this morning!! Happy Father's Day, Huh??? Needless to say, we missed church this morning and I haven't had much time to get a card made this weekend, because Bowman has been very clingy! Lindey, our 13 year old, watched the little ones this morning , which was a feat in itself, because neither one wants to be put down, so I could at least get a card made.

Supplies:

Stamps: Canvas Background
Cardstock: White, Coral, Celery, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Versamark
Other: Various ribbons, silver brads, red line sticky tape

I stamped the coral, celery, and cocoa cardstocks with the canvas and versamark to give it a little bit of a fabric look. I evenly spaced 3 silver brads to look like hangers. I tied each piece of ribbon to look like a tie....I actually know how to tie a tie!! I stuck the ties down with super duper sticky tape....that's not the actual name....but it really is super duper sticky, so I like to call it that! The last thing I did was handwrite a sentiment inside.......Your love "ties" our family together! AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! Ain't I sweet? Hope he likes it!!! To be continued.......Stay tuned!

A happy ending to the uploading saga!!

I finally figured out my problem of not being able to upload photos, or at least a solution to it. I was using Internet Explorer, so I downloaded Mozilla Firefox, and whaddaya know??? It works now!!! No more freezing up or anything. I'm so glad I finally found a solution, because I was so close to pulling all my hair out and I really don't think I'd look very nice bald. I even got it done while having 8 kids at my house yesterday!!! I had my 5 and my brother-in-law's 3. I'm surprised I'm still sane today! Now, if I can just finish cleaning and organizing my craft room, I'd be all set! I started cleaning and organizing this past Sunday, and I haven't gone back in to clean or organize since then. I'll work on that this weekend while my husband is home! He can watch kiddos while I lock myself away! I plan to work on a project today at some point to post too. I have such high hopes for my kids to behave themselves! I really need to get something made for my husband for Father's day too!! I don't even have an idea for him yet!! Nothing like the last minute to figure it out!! I'll post a photo of whatever I make for him too....that may be my project for today!!! Stay tuned for another exciting, fun-filled episode!

Drum Roll Please........

Alrighty then! The first technique for Technique Tuesday (even though it is Thursday) is masking. I thought I would start with the basics and work towards more difficult techniques. Masking is a fun way to add dimension to your stamped artwork.......YES ARTWORK......I don't want to hear any snickers and giggles out there and I don't want to hear.....well I'm not artistic! You can be!!! With a little rubber and ink....oh and paper!! I've also decided to keep my supply list pretty general, that way you can choose your own stamp sets and cardstock colors.

Supplies:
Cardstock, stamps, ink, post-it note, scissors

Step 1:
Stamp the image you want in the foreground onto the post-it note, making sure you get some of the image over the sticky so it will stay in place, then cut out as close to image as possible.

Step 2:
Stamp the image you want in the foreground onto your white cardstock. Then place your cut out image over it, making sure you line it up accurately.

Step 3:
Stamp the image you want in the background over the post it image.

Step 4:
Peel off post-it to reveal images. Color in images and finish card with your choice of embellishments.

Can you hear the train whistle sound???? I have been trying to upload a picture for the past 2 hours now and IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!!! I'm furious! Every time I try to upload it goes to the little uploading photos screen and the little blue bar that shows the progress slowly.....painfully moves across to about half way then NOTHING....the little screen goes blank and it says done where the little bar used to be! So, I sit and wait to see if it will miraculously say images successfully uploaded....waiting, waiting, waiting........STILL WAITING ::LOUD SCREAMING:: (ok, not really loud screaming....my family is asleep) But I can feel my blood pressure rising!!! Oh, and I'm hearing that train whistle!!! I've even signed off the internet thinking that maybe my connection wasn't that great, nope, that wasn't it. So then I restarted my computer, nope that wasn't it either!! Train whistle again!! I'm about to commence banging my head on the desk if this doesn't work!!! I absolutely despise having dial up. We can't get high speed where we live, so I'm stuck with dial up!!!! I guess I will try again in the morning and see if it will work. So until then, you may want to get some cotton balls to stuff in you ears if you want to be able to sleep tonight as I will still be steaming for several more hours I'm sure!!! So this morning I went in my craft room to make a card for my technique tutorial, I set all my supplies up to take a picture and my camera died!!! So I am now charging the battery so I can take photos of the steps. Busy busy busy

Yes I'm still alive!! I've just been busy this weekend. You know 5 kids can keep you from doing the things you WANT to do!!! My husband and I spent time with our kids Saturday morning and afternoon, then we went on a date that night......to Barnes and Noble. That is our favorite date, mostly because it is free, and it is really quiet!!! We just sat and looked through books and magazines for about 3 1/2 hours!!! At one point I looked up and said, you know we are sad! We aren't even talking to each other! He looked up and grinned, then I grinned......and we both went back to reading!!! ::giggle:: It was great just being together in the quiet!! Anyway, enough blah blah about that!! I've been busy cleaning out my craft room so that I can actually work in there!! I was really hoping to get it done on Sunday afternoon, but kids don't let me get much done, so I will work on it again in the morning, and hopefully get something more accomplished in there!!! I'm still really excited about getting this blog on a roll.....so just stick with me these first few days and let me get the kinks out and then I'll have some fun stuff!!!! Cut black cardstock to fit your frame. Stamp Crayon kids in white to mimic a chalkboard. Cut tags with sizzix in each color. Sponge edges of tags with matching ink color. Stamp Headline Alphabet in colors to correspond with tag colors onto white cardstock. Cut out letters leaving a small mat of white. Glue each letter to tags. Stamp small script words and Love from Wonderful Words sets in versamark on tags in various positions. Tie coordinating ribbons through holes of tag. Glue tags down to black cardstock. Add enamel charms. Frame!

I thought I would list some of the ideas I have for this blog. I was thinking I would have a new technique on Tuesdays and I will call it Technique Tuesday.....WOW I'm so original huh??? Then I will have different projects sprinkled in here and there. I will also occasionally offer some Blog Candy. This will be a prize offered for leaving comments. I will randomly select a winner and let me just tell you, I've got a lot of extra stamp sets and inks and whatnot just waiting for new homes! So be sure to check in often to watch for your chance to win a little candy!! I will start with techniques next week. I'm still tweaking my site this week. I'm trying to figure out how to make a new header and stuff. But stay tuned for more!!!

Well, here goes nothing!! I've decided that I would start a blog in order to share my passion for all things paper,stamps, scrapbooking and crafting!! I will share techniques, projects, and some really fun ideas. I will have photos of my creations for your viewing pleasure!
